The new school year is in full swing

By Kevin Brooks ·

Hello everyone reading. Welcome to my new blog on my sick new website.

Life is good right now. The sun is shining. It's Friday. Tasty Breakfast sandwiches are enroute to my front door via Uber Eats as I type this.

I started the school year with a presentation at Viewpoint School in Calabasas, California. This was my fourth time speaking there. Such a rad school. Ms Heller and the staff treat me like gold and the students are always super receptive and cool.

I drove around 3hrs south to San Diego from there and spoke the following morning at Steele Canyon High School. Massive audience. I think around 900 students, and they were great. I had met the VP at another school in the area I spoke at last year. Word of mouth is my good friend and so is Mr Battle.

Leaving California is weird. I love being there, but after all these years of travel, I love coming home more than ever these days. I have 2 cats at home: Zeke and Finn. Zeke gets skinnier when I leave and Finn gets fatter... dude needs a diet.

In the month I have been home, I got to see my parents and sisters, their partners, my niece and celebrate my G'mas 103rd b'day!!! Yeah, one-hundred-and-three. That wasn't a typo.

Lots of fall bike rides on my handcycle too. I am trying to embrace fall. I am a summer guy. Thankfully, there have not been many rainy days in Vancouver, BC so far this fall. I'll take cold and sunny over rain any day.

4 more schools since I have been home. Collingwood in W Vancouver, Southridge in S Surrey and Waldorf and WSS in Whistler. All of them rad in their own way.

Next stop is New Jersey. 5 schools there then a weekend in NYC. I fly home Halloween. I'll def be listening to Misfits and watching something scary on the plane.

The sun is shining. Food is here. I am gonna eat and then take my handcycle for a rip.

I'll touch base again soon.
